Rat Pack Tribute Shows Are A Great Way To Bring Back The 60's

By Shane McConnell

In the early 1960's, there was no better definition of cool than the members of The Rat Pack. This group of performers was made up of the legendary Humphrey Bogart, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis, Jr. and Peter Lawford. They famously appeared together in a number of movies and stage shows, including the award winning film Ocean's Eleven, and can now be seen in Rat Pack tribute shows.

Although he may not be one of the primary symbols of the group, the Rat Pack actually formed around film legend Humphrey Bogart. He began spending time with the group while he was married to film star Lauren Bacall. After a night out on the streets of Las Vegas, the group returned home only for Bacall to tell them that they appeared to be nothing more than a rat pack.

Frank Sinatra is perhaps most famous for being a part of the Rat Pack, but he got his start in the 1940's singing swing music. He fell out of the public eye for a time and then became a star once more when he received an Academy Award for his appearance in the movie From Here To Eternity. After the film, he signed a record deal and started recording his many classic records.

Dean Martin is yet another star who has made a name for himself primarily as a member of this elite group. While looking for his break in Hollywood during the 40's, he became acquainted with Jerry Lewis and formed one of the best loved comedy duos ever. They broke up after ten years together and Dean started spending more time with Frank Sinatra and the others.

Although the original members of The Rat Pack may be gone, they live on in Rat Pack tribute shows. These shows are a great way for older people to relive their past and for younger generations to experience a time gone by. Whether planning a corporate event or a special party at home, they are a form of entertainment that will surely bring back many great memories.
