Al Gomes: Over 30 Years In Music

Al Gomes helps artists develop their music and brand with music career consultations, music production and music promotion. He also assists with media licensing. For over 30 years he has worked in the music industry. His passionate turned profession when he started his own company. Big Noise is an independent artist and repertoire firm that has help launched the careers of many artists.

Gomes attended school at Rhode Island College. He was actively involved in many school productions. He was one of the editors for The Anchor, the college newspaper. He also wrote as a columnist for the publication. At the college radio station (WRIC), he produced a syndicated show and worked as a DJ. Within the theatre scene, He produced several plays, all of them originals. He earned a BA in communication while studying at the college.

Big Noise began in 1990. He founded the company, an independent artist and repertoire music firm. With help from his business partner A. Michelle, the firm has become widely known, especially within the independent music scene.

In its 20 years, Big Noise has collected approximately 10 esteemed awards. The firm has also released more than 300 recordings from artists who come from a number of genres. Big Noise prides itself on managing projects from beginning to end. The firm helps artists budget, receive studio time and make important decisions in regards to branding and public image. For independent artists who may have a hard time putting their music together, Big Noise helps with art direction for record packaging and manufacturing and distributing the finished product.

Though Big Noise is dedicated to helping independent and unknown artists, Gomes has done notable work within the mainstream music industry. He has worked with big names in the American music business. His resume includes a long list of popular productions.

Gomes was on the team that developed the career of Christina Aguilera. He served as the Director of Online Entertainment and Marketing for Three Wishes Promotions, the company Aguilera owns. Within the company he was as an archivist, biographer, web master, promoter, publicist and marketer for the company. He even produced two songs for the pop star.

Aside from working with Aguilera, Gomes has worked with producer Shelly Yakus, Paul Doucette of Matchbox 20 and American Idol contestant Katharine McPhee. Little Anthony and the Imperials and the Red Hot Chili Pepper have also done work with him. He has made music with songwriters Jimmy Crane, Mike Viola, Sean Callery and countless others.

In an effort to increase awareness about poverty in America, Gomes created the Band Wagon Project. The project included two televised concerts and production of a song. Both were made possible with the help of many celebrities. Over the years, the project has taken in thousands of dollars, which have went to American agencies that aid the poor. The Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Foundation presented the project with an award for outstanding public service.
