What Life Is Like In Green Screen Studio: A Glimpse

By Phillip Guye

Life in a green screen studio can be exciting, if you are not one of the cameramen, that is. It can be so lifeless and boring to keep preparing and rearranging the lighting and all of the apparatus that is there in the studio. On the other hand, for you and I who watch only the finished product, life in a studio (that boasts of the best quality of green screens) looks to be very exciting. One wonders how it is feasible to capture on film someone being chased by a tiger or something even worse.

There are pictures in newspapers and magazines of football players at a match. Sometimes, there is a image of a particular player whose expression is caught for perpetuity, or so we think. It is quite possible that this expression was caught in the confines of a green screen studio and not on the soccer field. A picture of the soccer match in progress is superimposed on the green screen which has already served as the background in the studio. The football player is asked to stand in front of the screen, a look of ecstasy on his face, to copy that which he had when he made that brilliant pass during a significant league match against an arch rival team.

Naturally, not all pictures are orchestrated on a green screen studio; there are quite a few photographers who risk their lives to capture live action on film. These are folk who belong to a very different breed. Their love for the art of photography can take them to places that they have never been to and get them concerned in situations that might sometimes even cost them their lives. For example, prize-winning photographers do not win awards based mostly on stills that are taken in a studio with a green screen. Rather, they win awards based primarily on footage taken out in the real world without the computer effects that are conveniently and simply created using a green screen studio.

Similarly, there are many photo executives who believe that it is important to capture wild animals on film, risking their lives in the middle. One classic example of this is the sad story of Steve Irwin, who was fatally attacked by a stingray. There is not any chance of attempting to duplicate this sort of a going down inside a green screen studio ; unless of course, someone is attempting to make a movie on Irwin, whereby the actor has to enact the final moments of the 'croc hunter' as Steve Irwin was fondly called.

Here, the actor will be asked to do all the movements and facial expressions that Irwin would have demonstrated in his last moments against the background of a green screen studio. Once this is done, the superimposing of the underwater battle between the stingray and the dying Irwin would be carried out by the film editing and compositing methodologies that are helped by the newest software, available in the flick industry today.

Where To Find The Best Guitar Slides

By Jarvis D. Burris

There are many ways of playing the guitar. And one interesting way is the slide or the bottleneck method. The performer, to slide against the guitar strings, uses an instrument called the slide or the bottleneck. This way, the pitch is adjusted accordingly. You would no longer have to press the string against the fretboard to change its pitch anymore. All you would have to do is use the guitar slide. This is not the only thing that guitar slides can do, you know. By placing a guitar slide against a particular string, the length of its vibration can also be varied.

Guitar slides can be used on any kind of guitar. But steel guitars are the best for using these slides. This is because using slides make the steel strings resonate better. However, guitar slides do come in different materials, which should play a role in your choosing of such an accessory. Guitar slides come in two materials: steel and glass. In choosing between both of them, you have to consider one important thing about these slides first.

What kind of effect are you wanting to attain from guitar slides? If you'd like to have a mellow kind of effect on the string, then you must go for glass guitar slides. But if you'd like a sharper twang to the string, then you must go for metal guitar slides. What more, glass slides simply break for clear reasons, while metal slides are the opposite. You can drop a metal slide, and it wouldn't break in any way. This may be another factor when selecting between these 2 sorts of guitar slides. But watch out when working with chromed guitar slides. If somebody implies that you've a chromed guitar slide, do not be taken with it. Chromed guitar slides give off sounds that appear a bit cold and thin. Plenty of people like brass guitar slides thanks to the rich sounds they give off.

Playing the guitar with slides may appear pretty hard and awkward to take a look at occasionally. But this is simply done when your fingers are made happy with the slide. You can make a selection from putting the guitar slide on your 3rd or 4th finger. These are the fingers on which wearing guitar slides would be most snug.

Comfort is top concern when it comes to selecting slides. Make efforts to select a guitar slide that would make playing simpler for you. It better to forgot design and style and go for comfort instead.

Wicked A New Musical

By Richie Stephenson

If you are looking for a nice musical to take your kids and whole family to, Wicked could just be the one that all of you could enjoy most. Wicked is a Broadway musical also being performed at the West End. In New York, it has gathered enough positive criticisms to get a Tony Award and prove its worth.

This musical is based on a novel written by Gregory Maguire entitled "Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West". This best-selling literature is actually written in parallel to the classical story entitled "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" by L. Frank Baum.

In the story, there are two witches, Elphaba, who will eventually become the wicked witch and Glinda, the supposedly good witch. These two witches became friends, although they have contrasting personalities and view points. Their friendship did suffer bumps and trials along the way of course. They do share one thing in common though - they both love the same guy.

The setting of the story happened before Dorothy arrived in Oz with the help of her ruby slippers. With that said, the audience could expect notable references, dialogues, and scenes in the equally popular "The Wizard of Oz" movie of 1939.

You need not see the story of Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz to appreciate this show and its plot. But those who simply love the classical tale are very much invited to see who the wicked witch of Oz really is. While you may think that she's the person that made things miserable for the people at Emerald City, you might think differently about her after watching this entertaining Broadway show.

Before finding its way to New York, Wicked was first shown at the Curran Theatre in San Francisco. It debuted in May 2003 before being presented in Broadway five months after. The force behind this musical is none other than Universal Pictures and is under the direction of Joe Mantello. Musical staging credits go to Wayne Cilento.

In the US, Wicked is being shown not only in New York but in Los Angeles, St. Louis, and Chicago as well. It also has had a big opening in London, more particularly at the West End. A tour is also being held regularly, with the show already taken to Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, and Ohio, among others.

The main characters of the story, aside from the two witches are The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, Madame Morrible, Fiyero, Nessarose, Boq, and Doctor Dillamond. Each one of these characters features a distinct singing voice in the play that makes the musical more entertaining and lively. The most popular numbers of the musical are "No One Mourns the Wicked", "Dear Old Shiz", "As Long as You're Mine", and "For Good", among others.

Kids and adults would surely love this show simply because it is a very good one. The tale is rich and eventful, with the musical rendition quite memorable. Take your whole family to enjoy the performance. It is truly going to be a night of entertainment for all of you.
