How the iPod changed the face of the MP3 Industry

By Jim McIntyre

Technology is taking manifolds with each day passing by whereby once mobile phones, computers used to be considered as technological tools. Then MP3 players and iPods came into picture for them who had a passion for music and entertainment. But now there are portable video players that have captured the market.

You can now take your entertainment on the road with you. And it's getting easier with each passing day to do so. These new digital media players are lighter, smaller and more sophisticated than ever before.

Without doubt the most advanced media player at this time is the series from Apple with the range of free songs for your iPod seemingly endless. And that's just the start of what the i series offers.

Portable DVD players let you watch all your favorite movies in any kind of place whereas digital video portables have other range of capabilities.

A popular item - the portable video and DVD player was good because you could plug in an external monitor effectively making your normal DVD player redundant, but the same goes for digital media.

Specifically to be used in the car, these old portable DVD players were a hit for the travelling family and now a days this is the only type that sells usually, although with nearly all new cars having iPod connectivity it is surprising they still sell so well. I guess its because they are cheap and that's why people buy them and do not buy itunes or iPod music.

Now of course this has all changed because with media going digital it meant you could store a whole lot of data on one small player.

It's almost like a portable computer when you look at its functionality and what it can do. It also means the quality is always top notch and no more worrying about jumping discs.

There are certain other players which rely on digital video files stored on to a tiny hard drive instead of the DVD's. These players are great when they are used in conjunction with a computer with in-built TV tuner because then you can easily record your favorite TV shows and store them as videos or load them onto your portable and carry them with you. These players usually handle MP3 files and digital photos as well.

There is no point in spending all this money on a quality media player only to go cheap on the headphones and end up listening to bad quality sound.

When looking at where the digital media age is heading I definitely think Apple are in the best position to take us forward from here. I recommend Apple as the company to take us in to the future. range of music players and the advances in iTunes and the App store it is surprising that anyone else can even think to keep up.
