Sound Quality Great But Comfort Is Lacking - Sennheiser Rs120 Wireless Headphones Review

By Nathan Taylor

I am not an audiophile so I don't have loads of experience with high end headphones, but these are the best pair I have ever owned. The sound envelops you, especially when you're watching an action movie like. I found the set-up to be extremely easy. I have found the buttons to be fairly easy to get used to but adjusting the volume required a bit of thought at first. The volume up and down are aligned left and right of each other, but there is a power button in the middle - making it easy to turn off. To make it more complicated, these 3 buttons are all unique sizes and shapes from one another, and don't feel like arrows or anything relative to what their function is. The cheaper one was half the price, but it was junk. Don't buy a unit that uses infrared, which is directional, for the signal.

My house is kind of small, but it's on two levels and there is nowhere I go in my house that I don't receive a clear signal. Sound is very good and bass response is quite acceptable for this type of open headphone. This makes it impossible for me to use them in this way. Since I have hearing issues and is why I buy earphones, I really can't use them for one purpose that is very important to me. Your mileage may differ. The base-station cradle unit is relatively compact and hides behind my wide-screen LCD display, out of sight. It is easy to use these cans for long periods of time as the ear pieces are comfortable & compliant. I had forgotten just how good (& well produced) these guys were.

My ears also hurt after a short time due to the foam ear pads. After more research I decided to give the RS180 a try. Overall I am happy with the headphones performance. All of these are minor since I wanted quality, comfortable headphones. After breaking them in for a couple of days, they fit my head like a large comfortable head glove. I've worn them already for hours on end with very little ear fatigue.

I haven't used them in the basement yet but I will next time I do my laundry. I forgot the last 2 times.

The Sennheiser is well built, sound quality is impressive, and its appearance is elegant. The only things I would change are the buttons on the earphones for power, volume and balance, maybe the way the unit is charged, and the way it turns on and off.

While all genres sounded better than I have ever heard on a headphone, I found orchestra music to benefit the most from these. Male sure to check your/source.
